Remove the Backup feature to reduce the sync process in iTunes for Windows?

I love my new iPad and its really awesome working on it but the worst part is when you go through the sync process for iTunes. It takes years for the sync process. I have experienced this thing in iPhone too. I really hate waiting and I don’t care for a backup for my device since its pretty easy to get things again these days. Internet is my largest backup point. I always try to get rid of these backup features in all my gadgets and now I have found one for this too and I am going to share it with you.

I have actually found two methods out of which one is a manual method. So I will share both the methods with you.

MANUAL

Engineers at Apple are very smart because they have embedded the setting for device backup deep down in the system and thus making it very difficult to alter. For this alteration to happen you will require a high grade XML text editor like Notepad++.

Now follow the following steps:-

1.Close the iTunes and create an iTunes preferences backup file in C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\ called iTunesPrefs.xml

2.Now open “C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml” in Notepad++ and go to “<key>User Preferences</key>”.

3.Paste the given below code after the “<dict>” node:-

Save it and open up iTunes. It will not perform the sync process.

AUTOMATIC

The automatic process is really very simple and for those who don’t like to do the technical stuff.There is a free application available called iPhone /iPod Backup Switch. This application can be used to automatically switch between the backup options.

2.Close the iTunes and then disable the backup by clicking on “Disable iPhone Backup in iTunes”.

LibreOffice announced : Open-source giants hand in hand for new Office suite

These are exciting days in opensource community. Adding to the excitement, The Open Office development community today announced the setting up of The Document Foundation which will fork (develop its own version from source code of ) Open Office. The foundation will be supported by Open-Source giants like Google, Red Hat, FSF, Canonical (sponsors of Ubuntu project ), and Novell ( Powerhouse driving the openSuse Project ). Oracle, the current owner of OpenOffice has also been invited to join the group. The team currently consists of some of the pioneering developers of OpenOffice itself.

A beta1 release of LibreOffice is also available for download.

Mark Shuttleworth, founder and major shareholder of Canonical, the makers of Ubuntu, has declared: “Office productivity software is a critical component of the free software desktop, and the Ubuntu Project will be pleased to ship LibreOffice from The Document Foundation in future releases of Ubuntu. You might have taken lots of screenshots in your computer or your might have taken screenshots in Mozilla firefox. I recently needed a full page screenshot of a page and also wanted to crop it to get the desired height and width. I had a extension for taking fullpage or selected page screenshot in mozilla firefox but they didn’t offer cropping feature.
After searching a while I found out that Google Chrome has an awesome extension which not only helps in taking screenshots it also helps in cropping and adding some stuff to it. If you are webmaster then you will obviously like it. Even if you are not a webmaster sometimes you do need to show screeenshots of a website for a project or something else.

If you are having a large enough RAM drive in your system then it has got an extra advantage for you. 3.Now click on the settings tab and enter the disk size and partition type according to your needs.

The only disadvantage of a RAM drive that bothers the most is that it cannot store any data. If you switch off the power the data is gone but this utility provides you an option to save the data even when the power is switched off and also to restore it whenever the need arises.

To use this feature follow the given below steps:

1.Click on the Open and Save tab in RAMDisk Configuration Utility.Now to save the data check on the “Load Disk Image at Startup” and “Save Disk Image on Shutdown” to enable the save and restore feature.

How to Password Protect your Files and folders

Password protection of private file is as important as creation of the file itself. Previously we wrote about how to hide your hide drives from others,but in that situation you had to use command prompt to hide the hard drive . Hiding files in that fashion is a bit tough for a non-tech user, but we have found a solution to that problem using a freeware SafeHouse Explorer, which does the job quite efficiently.

Follow the following steps to password protect your files and folders :

1. Download SafeHouse Explorer.

2. Install SafeHouse Explorer to your hard-drive.

3. After the installation is complete, click the “New Volume” button to create a private folder.

4. You can make many volumes to create folders of your chosen size preference.

After these steps, it’s just the play of mouse. Few drags and drops of your folders and files into this virtual drive and they get instantly password protected.

Accessing the protected files is also easy, simply navigate to the folder that houses your protected files and double-click the corresponding volume file. Once you type the correct password, you will see all the files and folders under the virtual drive in Windows Explorer.

These volumes (the .sksk file) can easily be copied to USB flash drive or external hard disks, which makes their vulnerability very low. Even if you lose the external hard disk, no one can open the files without knowing the password.

Ah…another use, e-mail attachments. Always use these folders (the .sksk file) as attachments and communicate the password to the recipient in other means and this will ensure even e-mail privacy.
